HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A handful of school districts called off classes after the weekend flooding.
In Harlan County, one teacher went to social media to check on her kids. Dianna Tipton has 28 students in her classroom and wanted to make sure they were all safe. Through both private groups and public internet surfing, she checked to make sure every last one of her students was okay.
"Well because they're my kids. Teaching doesn't stop when the weekend comes and of course, with the floods, I had to make sure everybody was okay and I assumed but I wanted to make sure because I don't know where everybody lives. I just wanted to make sure everyone was safe and sound," said Tipton.
Dianna is happy to report all of her students were safe and accounted for.
