CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT)- Suzie Barton Razmus says around a year ago she felt she should run for mayor in the city of Corbin.
Razmus says being a successful business owner for over 24 years has prepared her for her new position.
"We own the cinema, I own a business in Nashville called Suzie's Espresso we had had for twenty-four years. So I am used to being the boss, the leader," says Razmus.
Razmus ultimately won the Corbin mayor's race, and says she believes watching her mother be successful in both business and staying involved in politics has inspired her to do the same.
"I was raised by a very, very strong woman. My mother was a business owner herself, she was very active in politics. And, she kind of showed me the way, you know. Just by example, of what women are capable of," says Razmus.
Razmus says as mayor she plans to focus on the assets of the area, marketing and tourism.
"I mean how blessed are we to be right on I-75? Halfway between Lexington and Knoxville. The home of Cumberland Falls, you know the home of the first KFC. You know, we have got so much from a tourism perspective," says Razmus.
Razmus says she also plans to become involved with other mayors in the area, and work on growing their cities together.
