HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - We're getting ready to crank up the thermostat over the next few days. Grab your water and strap in for a hot ride.
Today and Tonight
You'll never guess what we're going to see this morning ... more fog! It's a daily occurrence these days. You can almost set your clock by it.
After the fog lifts, the sun is going to come out and send those temps soaring toward the 90-degree mark. I'm going to forecast 89, but I would not be surprised to see someone get there today.
We'll see mostly clear skies tonight with lows dropping into the mid to upper 60s.
This weekend will be one of the hottest we've had all summer. Under sunny skies, highs both Saturday and Sunday will be above 90.
Sunday will be the hottest day of the two. I would not be surprised to see someone hit 93 or 94. The official forecast is 92, which is hot enough.
The humidity will increase once again, so heat index returns as a factor. That could make it feel like close to 100 degrees or better.
Make sure that you limit your time outside. When you are out, hydration is a must. If you're going to be lounging by the pool to stay cool, keep the sunscreen handy. Light-colored clothing will help too. Stay cool!
We will continue to see those hot temperatures as we head into the new work week.
Highs will remain in the upper 80s to lower 90s throughout the workweek with scattered rain chances as well.
We could see some relief by the end of the week. We'll continue to keep an eye on that trend.
