HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Enjoy the rest of this evening, because summer is not over yet!
The unofficial start of summer feels more like its blistering peak in parts of the Deep South, where temperatures at or near 100 degrees are setting heat records during the Memorial Day weekend./Source: MGN
It will be a quiet evening and overnight across the region with lower humidity, so soak it in. Look for mostly clear skies with some patchy fog possible late. It will be a cool start to the new work week on Monday morning as lows drop into the low 60s. I would not be surprised to find an upper 50 in some of those sheltered valleys.
Early Work Week
Monday and Tuesday remain dry across the mountains with plenty of sunshine. Even though the official start to fall is less than 2 weeks away, you wouldn't know it by the temperatures throughout much of the week. We'll get close to 90 on Monday and get into the low 90s on Tuesday. Overnight lows will drop into the mid to upper 60s under clear skies.
The pattern changes a bit as we head into Wednesday. There is a stray rain chance Wednesday, with isolated chances through Saturday. The hot temps will stick around through, with highs staying close to 90 until Saturday.
Stay cool and hydrated this week!
