HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - I hope you're ready for heat and humidity because it's here and it's not going anywhere.
Today and Tonight
The warm front is already draped across part of the region this morning and it's going to continue its trek east today. After starting out in the 60s, highs will quickly climb under mostly sunny skies to near 90 degrees this afternoon. Remember your heat precautions, especially if you're going to be spending a lot of time outside.
Tonight, lows will drop to around 70 under partly cloudy skies.
The hot and muggy conditions continue as we head into the rest of the work week.
Highs will hover close to 90 for Thursday and Friday with scattered chances for showers and storms. If you're heading out to the Mountain Laurel Festival in Pineville toward the end of the week, stay hydrated. It's going to be very important if you're planning on being outside for a long time.
Your Memorial Day Weekend Forecast is looking pretty good as well! Look for a few scattered showers and storms possible with highs in the upper 80s or low 90s for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Models are hinting at a few more showers later Sunday into Monday. We'll keep an eye on that trend.
Remember to stay hydrated and keep the sunscreen handy all week long. Keep an eye on your children, pets and the elderly. Take frequent breaks if you have to work outside. Be extra careful!
