HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Hope you're ready to crank up the air conditioning because summertime is here in full force for the next few days.
The unofficial start of summer feels more like its blistering peak in parts of the Deep South, where temperatures at or near 100 degrees are setting heat records during the Memorial Day weekend./Source: MGN
Today and Tonight
After starting out in the upper 50s and low 60s this morning with a little patchy fog, the sun will make a quick appearance and drive temps up fast. Daytime highs will jump into the upper 80s and close to 90 this afternoon, so make sure you take your heat precautions if you plan on spending a lot of time outside.
Tonight, look for mostly clear skies and lows dropping to around 60 in the valleys and into the mid to upper 60s on the ridges.
Sunny skies and hot temperatures are the name of the game for the rest of the 7-day forecast. Highs Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be around 90 or above. The heat index could make it feel even hotter.
A stray chance for a passing shower will be around Saturday and scattered chances for showers and storms will start Sunday and stick around through early next week.
Overnight lows will only drop into the upper 60s and close to 70.
Overall, it's a much-needed drier pattern that we will definitely take. Enjoy and stay cool!
