HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The forecast continues to stay hot and dry for the 2nd half of the weekend, but changes are coming, some big, some small.
Rest of the Weekend
Partly cloudy skies will be around for Saturday night and into Sunday. Conditions stay dry with some fog possible late in the evening and early in the morning.
Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid-60s with daytime highs on Sunday getting into the upper 80s and right at 90.
Sunday night, look for partly cloudy skies once again. Fall will officially start at 3:50 a.m. Monday morning. Overnight lows will again drop down into the low to mid-60s.
First Days of Fall
Monday brings a cold front to the mountains. The temperature drop will be the big thing you notice. We will climb toward the 80-degree mark before temps dive behind the front. Unfortunately, even though we are in desperate need, this front continues to trend drier on models. That being said, I don't think scattered rain chances are out of the question.
Those chances will linger into Monday night as lows drop into the low to mid-50s under clearing skies. There's the fall we're looking for!
Tuesday is going to be downright beautiful. Look for mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s to near 80. Overnight lows drop into the low 50s. Perfect.
As is expected on the rollercoaster ride we call Kentucky weather, those comfortable temperatures won't last. The upward trend starts on Wednesday with highs in the low to mid-80s jumping back close to 90 by the end of the week and the weekend.
While there are some stray shots at rain Thursday and Friday, they are not looking great at this point. Skies will continue to stay mostly sunny.
