State of emergency declared in Breathitt County

BREATHITT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Breathitt County Judge-Executive John Lester “J.L.” Smith declared a state of emergency for public assistance Monday.

The primary reason for the state of emergency declaration is road repairs.

The state as a whole must meet a threshold amount of $6.2 million in damage before the governor can submit a request to President Trump for assistance from FEMA. Each county has to meet also an individually set threshold amount to qualify for the assistance.
