Soggy and cold Friday ahead, a few snowflakes possible Friday night

(WYMT) - It's been a cool day with a mix of sun and clouds across the mountains. As we head into the evening hours, our incoming system will bring rain chances overnight.

Low temperatures will only drop to the mid-40s due to increasing cloud cover this evening. Rain chances will ramp up overnight, eventually coming to 80%. If you have plans, I hope they are early this evening. The later you go into the evening hours, the better rain chances you have for your location.

Temperatures will spike back up during the morning hours on Friday. The reason is due to the developing low-pressure system. it will be southerly winds briefly to Eastern Kentucky. In fact, your high temperatures on Friday will occur in the morning hours. Models like the idea of highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s by Friday morning, eventually, we will get caught on the cooler side of that low-pressure system.

Cloud cover and rain chances will stick around all day on Friday. Rain chances will be at 90% throughout the day before falling to 30-40% by the evening hours. If you are headed to a high school football game, you will want to bundle up. Temperatures will be cold and there is still a chance you deal with a few scattered showers. Lows on Friday will drop down into the upper 20s to lower 30s. A few snowflakes will be possible Friday night and into Saturday morning. No accumulation is expected.

Extended Forecast
After those flurries Saturday morning, skies will clear out, giving way to mostly sunny skies. It will be a cold day, with most not making it out of the upper 30s. Under clear skies, lows Saturday night will dip into the mid, and for some, low 20s.

Veteran's Day on Sunday looks pretty good with sunny skies and slightly warmer temperatures getting back closer to the 50-degree mark. Lows will drop into the mid-30s.

There is a lot of chatter about the system next week and to be honest, it's way too early to talk about it. Models like the idea of a rain/snow mix on Tuesday while others like the idea of all rain. Our forecast throughout the evening hours takes a good chunk of those models into consideration. Timing looks to be Monday night into Tuesday, that is starting to become clearer. Precipitation type is the tough one to nail down. As always, keep an eye on the forecast and we will keep you updated throughout the week and into the weekend.
