BELL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The Bell County Sheriff's Department is warning people of a scam that targets DirecTV customers.

An actual customer reported that someone called her claiming to be from DirecTV.

The caller listed off several names and addresses before getting to her name.

The caller then told the woman a technician would be at her home and she was not to talk to him or pay him any money.

The sheriff's office told the customer to call 911 if anyone showed up related to the scammer's call.

Authorities said DirecTV knows who its customers are and would never say or do things like this.

If you think you are a victim of this scam, call the sheriff's office at 606-337-3102.
