Sheriff: Search for vehicle in hit-and-run, shooting case leads to two arrests

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A man and a woman are behind bars after an investigation into a hit-and-run and shooting.

Tuesday, Knox County deputies were searching for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run in Laurel County. Shots from a 9MM handgun were allegedly fired during the crash.

Deputies found the vehicle in a McDonald's parking lot in Barbourville. Inside the vehicle, they found a 9MM handgun, meth and a set of digital scales.

The driver, Lawrence W. Collinsworth, 35, of Corbin was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, first-degree drug trafficking and driving with a DUI suspended license.

During the investigation, deputies found a .22 caliber handgun in the possession of a passenger in the vehicle. Deanna N. Collinsworth, 34, of Barbourville was arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Both were taken to the Knox County Detention Center.
