LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Laurel County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man after people said they saw him move stolen items with a stolen van.

Wednesday morning, authorities got a call about a man entering Interstate Auction and taking items from the store. The caller said the man put the stolen items into the business' moving van and then drove away with it.

Auction employees, after calling 911, followed the van to a home off North Florence Street. They saw the same man unloading the stolen items and leaving them on the front porch.

Corbin City Police officers were nearby and kept the man there until deputies arrived.

The owners of Interstate Auction told deputies they had no idea who the man was.

The suspected burglar, Michael C. Smith, 39, of Corbin was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking and burglary. He was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
