Update: Names released in Pulaski County fatal pursuit crash

SOMERSET, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT) - Kentucky State Police (KSP) and Somerset Police responded to a crash on Highway 27 near the Bogle Street intersection in Somerset.

Police say two people are dead and one officer is injured.

KSP tell us the crash happened during a police pursuit after a Science Hill police officer tried to pull over 33-year-old Steven O Vanhook of Eubank, for driving erratically in a Pontiac G6.

The high-speed chase resulted in a crash with a pickup truck. The driver, 18-year-old Dylan B. Snow of Kings Mountain then hit a Department of Homeland Security vehicle. Homeland Security Police Officer 57-year-old Thomas Armstrong of Somerset was driving that vehicle.

The drivers of the truck and the Pontiac were pronounced dead on the scene.

Armstrong has minor injuries. He was taken to the Somerset Hospital.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. KSP is investigating the crash.

People who watched the crash described what they saw.

"It was just gruesome. About make you sick to your stomach," said Michael Bell, who lives in Somerset.

One worker at the nearby restaurant said the leading car was speeding.

"They had to have been going way over, 110-120, " said Jeanene Hardin, a worker for Somerset's Bojangles.

Officials are continuing to investigate.
