MOREHEAD, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT) - Some Eastern Kentucky companies met with major defense contractors on Wednesday.
Sister station WKYT reports, it is the third year for the event.
Organizers say the Supplier Education and Economic Development Contracting Symposium allows businesses to learn how to become certified to make products for the military.
Representative Hal Rogers says events like this can help lead to jobs for Kentuckians.
"We've got a lot of really talented people laid off from former employment. Skilled, willing and able to go to work right away, and at this day and time in the country with unemployment low, it's rare to find a bunch of good people rearing to go to get a job," said Rogers.
Governor Matt Bevin joined Rogers as a keynote speaker for the symposium.
