HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Keep your rain gear handy for the next several days. There's a good chance you'll need it, at least at times.
Today and Tonight
After a fairly dry morning, chances for scattered showers and storms are around again today. Our better chances come later this evening, but I can't rule out some pop-up storms at any time during the day.
The Storm Prediction Center has us back under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather nearly regionwide so we'll keep an eye out for some stronger storms.
Those scattered rain chances will also continue into the night.
Daytime highs will be back close to 90 with overnight lows in the upper 60s.
Thursday and Friday
I know a lot of folks will not want to hear this, but Thursday and Friday now both look fairly soggy. The cold front we've been talking about all week will start to move through on Thursday, bringing us mostly cloudy skies, especially the later into the day we get and increased rain chances. A few of the storms could be on the strong side Thursday, so we'll keep an eye on that. Daytime highs will be in the mid-80s with overnight lows dropping into the upper 60s.
Ponchos might be the must-have accessory for Friday night football this week. The models are holding the cold front around longer as we head into Friday and that includes Friday night. There's still time for things to change, but the latest trends don't show that. We'll keep you posted. Highs will be around 80 with lows in the mid-60s.
Scattered rain chances will follow us into the weekend with the best chances on Saturday.
Highs will be in the lower 80s both days with overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s.
We'll keep those daily rain chances as we head into the new work week as well.
