Rain chances continue, cooler temps on tap for Thursday

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Heavy rain made for some good sleeping weather overnight. Conditions will slowly improve as we head through the day.

Today and Tonight
The cold front will continue its slow trek through the mountains today. Wet roads and possible fog will greet you on your morning drive, so be extra careful.

The deeper into the day we get, the forecast will slowly improve. Skies will gradually clear as the front exits, but your daytime high will happen late this morning. That high? Most locations will be lucky to get into the mid-60s. Yes, I'm not even kidding. Yes, it is mid-June. Crazy weather.

If you think that's crazy, tonight, under mostly clear skies, most locations will drop into the upper 40s. Turn the heat back on!

Extended Forecast
Sunshine returns by Friday and continues into your Saturday as well! Highs will still be a little bit cooler Friday with temperatures into the mid-70s. By Saturday, highs will rebound back into the lower 80s.

We bring back those scattered showers and storms on Sunday. Sadly, it looks like a soggy start to the new work week.

We'll continue to keep an eye on that trend over the next few days.
