President Trump, VP Pence coming to Kentucky to campaign for Gov. Matt Bevin

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are coming to Kentucky in separate trips to campaign for Gov. Matt Bevin's reelection.

Politico reports President Trump is stopping in Kentucky the day before election day, Pence is set to appear Nov. 1.

Final details for rallies are still being worked out.

Politico also said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other members of the Kentucky congressional delegation are scheduled to headline a fundraiser for Bevin next week in Washington.

Bevin is facing a stiff challenge from Democratic challenger Andy Beshear.

Beshear's campaign released a statement.

“This race is about right vs. wrong — and there’s nothing that will make Kentuckians forget how Matt Bevin’s attacked public education, tried to illegally cut pensions and insulted teachers," said Beshear/Coleman Spokesperson Sam Newton. "Under Bevin, too many families across Kentucky are making less every year, and Bevin is still refusing to support protections for people with pre-existing health conditions. Working families are ready for a governor who will be in their corner and Andy Beshear has proven he’ll work with anyone to get the job done. That’s why Andy is gaining support from across party lines, including the endorsement of a sitting Republican State Senator and the Fraternal Order of Police.”
