WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - Williamsburg Police said a murder investigation is underway Friday morning.
Police said it happened at the 1100 block of Betty West Road just before 8 a.m. Two people called 911 about a domestic violence incident.
Michael Lee Worley, 40, is charged with murder after a fight with his aunt, Wanda Richardson, 58, led to her death, police said.
They said she was badly beaten, which appears to be the cause of her death. Robinson was lying partly in the driveway, partly in the yard, when police found her. That is when they saw Worley running away.
"In speaking with some family members, we have learned it is not unusual for him to be there," said Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird.
Police think something snapped in Worley Friday.
"I can say that drugs is possibly a factor on the suspect's part. He's a known drug offender, and I don't want to say intoxicated but he appeared to be under the influence of something," Bird said.
Relatives said they did not want to talk about what happened. Worley also declined to tell his side of the story from jail.
There will be an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
