Update: Man arrested for shooting Leslie County woman during break-in, police say
Police arrested Richard G. Dickerson during the weekend.
Police learned that the 51-year-old was at a home on Mulberry Lane in the Wooton community. They arrested him without any issues and took him to the Leslie County Detention Center on Saturday.
The owner of the home, 60-year-old Chester Collett, was also arrested and charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police said Dickerson broke into a home, went into the couple's bedroom and shot a woman at close range with a shotgun.
He faces first-degree assault, burglary and wanton endangerment charges.
Police said a tip that was called in led them to the home where the pair were found.
"A lot of times people are maybe apprehensive of the perpetrator finding out and possibly having some retaliation issues," said Kentucky State Police Trooper Jody Sims.

Troopers are searching for Richard G. Dickerson, 51, for first-degree assault, burglary and wanton endangerment.
Dickerson is accused of breaking into a Leslie County couple's bedroom and shooting the woman at close range with a shotgun.
The shooting happened on May 19. Dickerson is still on the run.
Police consider him dangerous and said he may have a weapon. Do not approach him if you see him.
He is described as a white man who stands 6' tall and weighs around 198 pounds. He has blue eyes and is bald.
