WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Deputies with the Whitley County Sheriff's Department said they were called to an ATV crash with injuries on Saturday.
Police say an ATV and a pick-up truck crashed head-on.
Whitley County EMS responded quickly and took him to a landing one zone for a medical flight.
"The medics and EMTs did an outstanding job," said Deputy Sheriff Mike Lawson.
Police said the teen was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for further treatment.
Hospital officials said 19-year-old James E. Fore died at the hospital.
Neighbors say James was a pleasure to live around and are heartbroken at his death.
"He had stopped several times this summer at my house to invite my children to go to Bible school with him, and just a really sweet boy," said Tara Vance.
Raleigh Meadors says the loss of Fore is something that hits home for the entire community.
"We are a very close-knit community. When one hurts, we all hurt," said Meadors. "It was just really tragic and everyone in the whole community, all the nine-one-one, worked really hard and it'll take a long time for our community to get over this," Meadors continued.
A medical examination was performed on Monday, we do not yet know the results.
No one else was injured in the crash.
Police say the death investigation is on-going at this time.
