Police: Eastern Kentucky man dead from logging accident

CRANKS, Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky State Police said an Evarts man died in a logging accident in Harlan County.

Police said it happened off of Ky-568 in the Cranks community of Harlan County.

According to a news release, John Williams, 36, was injured while working. It is not yet clear what led to the accident.

It appears that Three States Coal Sales and Logging Company moved Williams from the scene and drove him to an awaiting ambulance, where the coroner pronounced him dead.

An autopsy will be performed Wednesday in Frankfort.

The case is still under investigation.
