MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WYMT) - Updated, June 12
A grand jury will hear a Bell County attempted murder case. The group will determine whether to indict George Fisher.
Earlier this month, police said Fisher tried to shoot his estranged wife and another man.
Investigators said both the woman and man somehow dodged the bullet.
Fisher faces two counts of attempted murder, violation of a Kentucky Domestic Violence Order and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Original Story, June 5
Middlesboro Police officers arrested a man for attempted murder Tuesday.
Around 12:15 p.m., officers responded to a call at Gordon Lane. A woman said her estranged husband shot at her and left.
"Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that George Fisher of Middlesboro, had allegedly fired a shot and another male subject who was at the scene," says Sergeant Joe Holder, Middlesboro Police Department.
Police say both Fisher's estranged wife and another man were at the home on Gordon Lane when the shot was fired. Police arrested Fisher a short time later.
Officers say the bullet narrowly missed them, and it is an outcome that doesn't happen too often in similar cases.
"We're just glad no one was injured at this point," says Holder.
Fisher is charged with two counts of attempted murder, violation of a Kentucky Domestic Violence Order and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
He was taken to the Bell County Detention Center.
Fisher was arraigned in Bell County court on Wednesday morning. He pleaded not guilty. A preliminary hearing is set for the 11th.
