LAFOLLETTE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A 9-year-old girl is dead following a shooting in Campbell County, Tennessee.
At around 8 p.m. Wednesday, dispatch confirmed that officials with the LaFollette Police Department were responding to a reported shooting in the area.
According to a spokesperson with the department, officials arrived on the scene of a shooting in front of Little Caesars Pizza on Jacksboro Pike at about 6:45 p.m.
Police said that the 9-year-old, who was not identified, was sitting in a vehicle outside of the business when she was accidentally shot in the head by her 10-year-old brother.
She was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, but did not survive.
Police say they will be "conferring with the Campbell County District Attorney's Office" on Thursday about the incident. They say the investigation is ongoing.
