(WYMT) - Keep the rain gear around today as more showers are expected. Some will see a transition to snow later tonight.
Today and Tonight
For Sunday rain will be in the forecast for most of the day with highs near 40°. I think showers will be less widespread than yesterday. As temperatures drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s overnight, rain will transition into snow as we head into Monday. Our northern counties will get in on the snow first working its way down south. For the northern counties, the transition looks to happen in the afternoon. The rest of the viewing area will gradually follow.
A few snow showers will continue into Monday morning leading to some light accumulation. We do not expect any widespread issues, but some slick spots are still possible especially early Monday morning. As far as totals, it looks to be a light coating at best. We have been very soggy and it will be hard for light snow to stick.
We should clear out by the time we get to Monday afternoon but highs will be chilly into the mid 30s and overnight lows in the low to mid-20s. A few flurries cannot be ruled out for Monday. We will have a northwest wind that could provide some upslope snow, but I'm not sure if we will have enough moisture.
High pressure sets up Tuesday and Wednesday bringing drier and sunnier weather. Highs on Tuesday will be near 40 and on Wednesday in the upper 40s! Wednesday will be beautiful.
We are keeping a close eye on another system that will be working its way into the mountains by the end of the week.
