Pikeville man arrested after allegedly hosting multiple parties for minors
A Pikeville man is behind bars after police say he hosted multiple parties for minors.
Anthony Baker is accused of providing alcohol to teenagers.
These parties were located at the former Rags to Riches building on Hambley Boulevard, which Baker purchased. Pikeville Police Department officials say Baker lives in the building and allegedly rents rooms.
Baker faces multiple charges including wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Pikeville Police Chief Chris Edmonds said the arrest was made following an investigation by PPD and the Attorney General's Office. Edmonds said the investigation was a response to several anonymous complaints from the community.
"During that investigation, we gathered a bunch of witnesses, and people stepped forward and brought their children by (the police department)," Edmonds said. "And through that operation, we were able to compile four warrants from that yesterday, which was served on him yesterday."
Edmonds said the investigation is still underway, adding that more charges may come. He said, due to the age of the people involved, the department felt it was necessary to intervene as soon as possible.
"Juveniles drinking, alcohol in the parking lot," Edmonds said. "It was an ongoing saga for us to get that stopped down there. Hopefully, this will put an end to it."
Baker was taken to the Pike County Detention Center. He was released from custody Thursday afternoon.
