Pikeville Panthers fall to Beechwood in 1A title game

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - The Pikeville Panthers came up short in the 1A State Championship game Friday afternoon to the Beechwood Tigers, 21-20.

A blocked extra point from Beechwood ended up being one of the biggest plays of the game following Pikeville's first score in the second quarter.

The Panthers had the ball in the closing minutes of the game, but following a Connor Roberts interception, the Tigers sealed the deal, giving them their third straight State Championship.

Connor Roberts went 10-15, 243 yards, 3 TDs, INT.

Jackson Hensley hauled in four receptions for 154 yards, 2 TDs.

The Panthers finish their season with an 11-3 record.
