(WYMT) - A Pike County woman pleaded guilty to insurance fraud and now has to pay more than $19,000 back to Aflac.
Officials say Courtney Saunders, from Pikeville, pleaded guilty to submitting false claims between July 2015 and December 2016.
Aflac employees reported Saunders’ claims to the Kentucky Department of Insurance and an investigation was launched.
“Scammers benefit significantly from insurance fraud, and leave victims suffering from increased premiums, empty wallets, and credit problems,” said DOI Commissioner Nancy Atkins in a statement. “Kentucky’s fraud investigators work tirelessly to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth from the devastating effects of insurance fraud.”
