PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT)- One Pike County church is continuing their work to provide to those in need in the community.

Grace Fellowship Church in Pikeville held their annual community dinner Thursday afternoon.

Hundreds came through the doors to eat a warm meal and be surrounded by friendly company.

"What is heartwarming to me is that we are able to build a rapport with people, it's not just coming in and providing food, but actually getting to know each other and know their names and catch up and says hello and it's more relational as well," said Co-Pastor t Grace Fellowship Church.

Along with the meal, organizers were able to give a new pair of shoes to dozens in the community thanks to donations.

They said the support from the community makes all the difference.

"By ourselves, we would be limited with what we can do, but when we have support from the city of Pikeville and others it takes what little we have and expands it and we are able to do so much more," said Bailey.

Recently, the city of Pikeville awarded the church with a 3,600 dollar grant to help them continue providing to those in the community.

The community dinner is always the last Thursday of every month.

The church also has a community yard sale planned for March 1st-2nd.
