Update: Name released in fatal ATV crash in West Virginia

LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ/WYMT) -- UPDATE 9/14/18 @ 10:55 a.m.

More details have been released about a deadly ATV crash, including the victim's name who was driving the ATV.

Sydney Maynard, 53, of Logan, died at the scene, according to the Logan County Sheriff's Department. The crash happened around 2 p.m. Thursday on state Route 44 near Switzer.

The crash also involved two other vehicles -- a Ford F-150 pickup truck and a Jeep Renegade. Investigators say the ATV went out of control and sideswiped the Renegade before colliding with the Ford F-150.

Deputies say a woman who was a passenger on the ATV was treated at Logan Regional Medical Center and released. The drivers of the other vehicles also were treated and released.


One person is dead after a crash involving an ATV and several other vehicles in Logan County, West Virginia.

It happened Thursday afternoon along State Route 44.

Logan County deputies say the person driving the ATV died and at least one other person was taken to the hospital.

Three other vehicles were involved in the crash.

It is unclear what caused the crash.

Deputies say they are working with State Police to determine what happened.
