One man dead in officer involved shooting

HARLAN COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One man is dead following an officer-involved shooting.

It happened Sunday afternoon in the Baxter community of Harlan County.

Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 10 say they were responding to a complaint at a home on Country Estates Road when a man identified as Bradley J. Grant, 36, ran from them.

Trooper Lloyd Cochran tells WYMT Grant ran inside the home away from troopers, who then followed him inside.

Cochran says Grant confronted them with a shotgun and began to walk toward troopers. We are told after several commands were given for Grant to drop the weapon, troopers fired at him.

He was taken to Harlan ARH and pronounced dead. No troopers were injured in the shooting. Both were placed on administrative leave, which is protocol during officer-involved shootings.

KSP’s Critical Incident Response team is continuing to investigate.
