Alcohol believed to be a factor in crash that killed Wayne County teen

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One person is dead after a crash in Wayne County Tuesday night and police suspect alcohol may have been involved.

Kentucky State Police confirm 16-year-old Sara Catron of Alpha died from her injuries after being taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

18-year-old Brennan Chriswell was driving when he lost control of his 2003 Dodge pickup, troopers said. He was taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center where he received treatment for his injuries. He was discharged on Wednesday.

Police say the crash happened on Kentucky Highway 167 near the Number One community close to 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, and that no other vehicles were involved.

No charges have been filed while police wait on blood test results.

Catron was a student in the Wayne County school system. Grief counselors were available for her fellow students all day Wednesday.
