Man killed in Bell County crash

The Bell County Coroner's office has confirmed a man died after a crash in Bell County.

Bell County Coroner Jay Steele tells WYMT 33-year-old James Hatfield died after crashing his car on U.S. 25E north of Pineville.

"All indications he ran off the roadway, left the roadway southbound. He impacted a rock wall, " says Pineville City Police Patrolman, Curtis Pingleton.

After striking the wall, the 1994 Ford Mustang flipped multiple times.

"At which point the driver was ejected," says Pingleton.

Hatfield was taken to Southeast Kentucky Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:30 Friday morning.

Hatfield's body will be taken to the State Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort, Saturday.


Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet confirm there was a serious crash in Pineville, Friday morning.

Officials say the crash happened on U.S. 25E. at Mile points 14-15. Officials expected the road to be blocked for a few hours.

The closing was cleared a little after 10:30 a.m.
