Southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Laurel County back open, after crash and loose honeybees

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) UPDATE: Kentucky State Police say the southbound lanes Interstate 75 are back open in Laurel County after a crash.

Viewer Jacqueline M. Beaumont Bowling says a lot of honeybees are flying around the crash scene.

Troopers also say they believe the bee situation has also been cleared up.


Kentucky State Police tell WYMT the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Laurel County are shut down.

Officials say the crash happened near exit 49.

The recommended detour is to get off on exit 49 and to get back on the interstate at exit 41.

KSP dispatchers tell us the crash involved two tractor trailers.

Officials are unaware if there are any injuries at this time.

Police expect the southbound lanes to be closed for two hours.

Sister station WKYT reports one of the tractor trailers was carrying honeybees, and now the bees are loose.
