Mother dies after childbirth, community raises thousands for family
A woman in Knott County died Sunday while giving birth. Morgan Hall died from complications related to HELLP syndrome, a rare pregnancy complication that impacts less than 20,000 every year.
Hall is remembered as a mother, wife and someone who had a huge heart and who touched the lives of many people.
Since her death, many in surrounding communities have raised money to help Hall’s family. Kenzi Moon offered a photoshoot for the winner of a raffle she started on Facebook, with all the proceeds going to the Hall family for Morgan’s funeral cost.
“I only did the three spots. I did $5 for one [entry], 2 [entries] for $10, 3 [entries] for $15 and people are sending $50, $100,” said Moon.
Moon went to Knott Central High School with Hall. She says they were never close friends but she wanted to do her part to help the family.
Moon said her goal was $2,000, but she has since passed that goal. All the additional money will go to help pay for medical bills. Morgan’s husband is still at UK Hospital with their newborn son Noah.
“He's doing good but there’s no telling how long he'll still; be there,” she said.
Moon is thankful for the support the community has given her in her fundraising to help the family.
“It's sad but that's when people seem to come together most, is when tragedies like this happen,” she added.
A celebration of life service for Morgan Hall will be Wednesday at Hindman Funeral Services from 5 to 9 p.m.
