More than 400 kids compete in Scholastic 3D Archery Tournament

LAUREL, Ky. (WYMT) - No matter how you get started or how old you are, archery is a sport for everyone.

"Anybody and everybody can do it, and as you walk the range, you see small kids to a large kid it doesn't matter," said Head Archery Coach of University of the Cumberlands Kris Strebeck.

Do not let that fool you though, because it's harder than it looks.

"I didn't do too bad but I didn't shoot how I wanted to," said Gage Logsdon, who competed in the S3DA Tournament.

More than 400 kids came out to the Laurel County Fairgrounds to compete in the Scholastic 3D Archery Tournament.

For these kids, it's much more than just a competition, it's about making memories and continuing to grow.

"You get to talk to a lot of people, you get to meet a lot of people and overall it's just fun," said S3DA competitor Cordland Mullins.

Kentucky State Coordinator of S3DA says though this tournament is a lot of work to plan, she is thankful for such a good turnout.
