KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT)- Mike Mitchell won the Knox County Judge Executive race on Tuesday.

Mitchell (R), won against opponent Michael Warren (D), with an overall vote of 6,510 compared to Warren's 2,787 votes.

The Judge Executive-elect says while he and his family fought a very hard campaign this election, their efforts were worth it in the end.

Mitchell says he is encouraged after speaking to Fiscal Court members and realizing they have a lot of the same goals.

"I am going to work very hard on trying to do some economic development. Which, we have problems here also. You know, we have the drug problem as well as all of our neighboring counties," says Mitchell.

Mitchell will be replacing current Knox County Judge Executive J.M. Hall, who did not seek re-election.
