Bill requiring more clinical studies of medical marijuana moves forward in Senate

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT)- A new medical marijuana bill cleared a major hurdle on Wednesday as it passed a Senate panel.

This bill is not the same as the one passed last week in the House and was pushed primarily by opponents of legalization.

Senators asked for more clinical studies, saying there are "too many unknowns" in cannabis and the medicinal properties in it, adding the need for additional studies.

The bill will now move to a vote in the full Senate.
