Matt Jones tweeted that WLEX ended his time as host of "Hey Kentucky" due to his decision to write a book criticizing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The book is called "Mitch, Please."

Jones, an Eastern Kentucky native, has publicly considered a Democratic run for McConnell's senate seat in 2020.

In his tweet, Jones said "I disagree strongly with this decision but it is what it is. I will continue to pursue my passions and beliefs, regardless of the result."

Jones said he will miss the show and thanked his co-hosts and viewers.

Original Story, Thursday

Matt Jones, founder of Kentucky Sports Radio, announces his new book taking aim at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

reports McConnell campaign manager Kevin Golden states, “Many people are familiar with Matt’s book report from its original title when they called it Elizabeth Warren’s stump speech."

Jones responded to Golden's comment saying his book will be "more interesting and witty than Mitch McConnell's spokesman's comments on it."

The book is set for release in 2020.
