BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Late Monday morning deputies arrested a Nevada man after he allegedly tried to kidnap a juvenile at a Kentucky high school.

Deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office said 18-year-old Benjamin Margitza flew in from Las Vegas to kidnap a young girl who was a student at Conner High School.

The two met online about four years earlier.

Authorities say the two had not talked much, and that Margitza had made sexual and obsessive statements about the juvenile.
Margitza flew into Kentucky late Saturday to find the juvenile.

Deputies said Margitza found the girl in a school parking lot, grabbed her arm and tried to run away.

Margitza followed the juvenile until another person broke the two up and told a school resource officer.

He later told officers his goal was to take her back to a hotel room and convince her to have sex with him.

He was charged with attempted kidnapping of a minor and criminal trespassing 3rd degree.

Margitza is in at the Boone County Detention Center and no bond has been set.
