Update: Grand jury indicts man for brother's murder

A grand jury indicted Eddie Ryan Profitt for his brother's murder.

Profitt faces murder and tampering with physical evidence charges.

Police say he shot and killed his brother, Timothy, in October.

Investigators still do not know a motive in the case.

Eddie Ryan Profitt's arraignment was held on Wednesday.

He pleaded not guilty. Police said he shot his brother, Timothy Profitt, in the abdomen, killing him.

He will be back in court on September 20th at 11 a.m.

Kentucky State Police arrested a Letcher County man Tuesday on a murder charge.

Troopers say 44-year-old Eddie Ryan Profitt killed his brother, 40-year-old Timothy Profitt.

This happened off Cane Hollow Road near the Colson community around 4:45 a.m.

Police were called to a home with reports that a man was found unresponsive in his basement. Troopers found Timothy dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Investigators said the two brothers lived together at that home, but have not determined what led to the shooting. They do not believe anyone else was involved. No additional charges are pending at this time.

The investigation is ongoing. An autopsy will be performed in Frankfort.

Eddie Ryan Profitt was charged with one count of murder and taken to the Letcher County Detention Center.
