WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Corbin native, Sydney Adams released her first EP, Always Home to Me on Friday.
She has been singing for as long as she can remember.
"It's kind of always just been a part of me," said Adams.
She spent a couple of years away from music when she got married and moved to Maryland. The time away made her long to perform.
"I didn't realize that and accept that for myself until I had to take so much time off and get back," said Adams.
She grew up hearing stories of the hard times her family went through in the Appalachian Mountains.
"All those things shaped me and molded me to who I am as an artist," said Adams.
Her song 'Always Home to Me', reflects her love of Southeastern Kentucky.
"I want it to be an anthem for people here as well. Like no matter where you go, or what you do, all these little things that make Southeastern Kentucky so special are what make it home to all of us," said Adams.
Her EP was brought to life by producer Matt McQueen who owns Gem City Studio's located in Jellico, TN.
"He allowed so much time for me to really perfect what I wanted this EP to sound like," said Adams.
He believes in her talent.
"When you put that with honest songwriting and honest lyrics about her home or about people that she's met or have been a part of her life, it makes for a record people relate to and that want to listen to," said McQueen.
The album is available on most streaming platforms such as iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.
She will perform Saturday night at 9:30 at Austin City Saloon in Corbin.
