Update: Lexington serial scammer pleads guilty to theft charges

Lexington scam artist Sherman Denny pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to four charges of theft.

Sister station WKYT reports the judge ordered him to serve 305 days in jail. A grand jury may indict him on other charges.

An accused serial scammer in Lexington faced a judge on Tuesday.

Police arrested Sherman Denny following a car crash on Monday.

Sister station WKYT reports Denny was arraigned on multiple charges including theft by deception, wanton endangerment, and probation violation.

Investigators say he is notorious for being spotted in parking lots around town asking for money to help him buy insulin.

A not guilty plea was entered for him, and a public defender was appointed.

He is due back in court next week.
