Lexington restaurant employees travel to Pineville to feed hospital employees
Staff from BD's Mongolian Grill in Lexington drove to the Pineville Community Health Center to feed hospital employees.
The hospital employees received their first paycheck in several months on Friday.
Employees say they expect another one soon, as donations continue to pour in from the community, totaling $10,000.
However, support continues to come in, this time from Lexington.
Employees at BD's Mongolian Grill are native to Bell County, and after following the situations with the hospital, still reached out to the mayor to help in the efforts moving forward.
On Wednesday, BD's employees cooked enough food for all 68 employees and traveled all the way down to Pineville for lunch.
BD's staff say they are glad to help, as helping the community is one of their company's core values.
"This is just one meal. They worked eight to ten weeks with no paycheck. That's something that it wasn't asked of them, it was something they wanted to do. So, they're the true heroes here. We're just providing another day of lunch," said Kyle Nelson, BD's Mongolian Grill Director of Operations.
Hospital employees say BD's is certainly not the only one helping out.
Help has come from countless donations, including Subway in Pineville, Sweet as Honey Bakery in Harrogate, Tennessee, Little Caesar's in Middlesboro, Grateful Ed's BBQ, Our Father's House of Pineville, KFC, JRS Restaurant Corporation, First Christian Church, Brooks-Durhams Funeral Home, First Baptist Church in Pineville, Mill Creek Baptist Church, New Heights Church, Long's Pic and Pac, Long's One and Up and Pine Mountain State Park.
