FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky Rep. Kevin Bratcher pre-filed a bill Wednesday that would require telemarketers to use their true caller ID.
BR 393 would amend the law to prohibit fake caller IDs.
Telemarketers would have to use either their real ID or be listed as unknown.
First-time offenders of the bill would be charged a $500 fine. The bill would also increase the fine from $1,000 to $3,000 if the law is broken more than once.
