Laurel Co. teacher wins $10,000 grant and free shoes for a year

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One North Laurel High School teacher has a big win for the school's computer lab.

Melanie Alsip was named one of five winners of the rack room shoes real teacher of the year contest.

Her reward is a $10,000 computer lab grant.

The school's principal says they will use the money to fund 12 new desktop computers with touch screens, as well as three iPads.

Ms. Alsip will also receive free shoes for a year.
