A Georgetown police officer was seriously injured and is still in the hospital after a hit and run in Wisconsin.

Sister station WKYT reports Officer Cole Centner was driving in Wisconsin  Saturday when another vehicle hit him and then took off.

Centner was left behind with several leg fractures, broken ribs, a concussion and a collapsed lung.

"I know God can do big things, and I have to believe that, even through hard times. And so I just have to believe that prayer is going to change the outcome of this and bring him toward that recovery," said Caitlin Mayeaux, Centner's older sister.

The officer is stable and will be transported to UK Hospital. He was in Wisconsin with his wife for a baby shower for their first child.
