(WYMT) - The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources opened registration Monday for their annual mentor-youth dove hunt.
Registration is open August 6th until August 17th.
"People have two weeks to apply," said Wes Little, migratory bird biologist. "Mentors must go online and complete the registration. They can go back to the website on August 24 to check if they were drawn for the mentor hunt. Fields are assigned by random computer drawing."
The mentor-youth dove hunts begin September 1st. Five fields in Ballard, Union, Grant, Mercer and Lincoln Counties will be available.
Adults may take up to two youth aged 15 years old or younger. Only two shotguns are allowed per field location.
Adults are allowed to hunt, and the youth do not have to hunt.
