Kentucky State University football player killed in California shooting

A Kentucky State University student and football player is dead after being shot.

Josh Williams was shot on Tuesday in Inglewood, California. The 24-year old died from his injuries.

Williams, who is a native of Inglewood, played for the Thorobreds football team. for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Williams wasn't only known on the football field, his former professor, Dr. Shannon Brogan said Williams also shined in the classroom.

“Josh is a very kind hearted, respectful, genuine, very down to earth, always had a smile on his face,” Dr. Brogan said, "I'm going to miss him. I'm going to miss him a lot."

"KSU Athletics is deeply saddened by the loss of one of its own," said Director of Athletics William Head. "Another senseless act of violence silences a potential voice of leadership. In All Things Excellence. Thorobred down."

“Kentucky State University is going to miss him. Oregon State is going to miss him. But the game of football is going to miss him," Dr. Brogan said.
