Update: Victim's name released in deadly Floyd County crash

IVEL, Ky. (WYMT) - UPDATE: Kentucky State Police said the victim has been identified as Freddy Loyns, 65, from Garrett.

Troopers said the cause of the crash has not been determined at this time.


Kentucky State Police are investigating after responding to a crash Friday afternoon.

The crash happened around 12 p.m. on US 23 in Ivel.

Troopers said a vehicle traveling southbound left the highway, drove into a ditch and hit an embankment. The vehicle then rolled over several times.

The driver was thrown from the vehicle, police said. The Floyd County coroner pronounced the driver dead on the scene.

The name of the driver will not be released until family has been notified.

The investigation is ongoing. We do not know the cause of the crash at this time.
