More than $380,000 raised during annual Kentucky Gives Day

Nonprofit organizations participating in Kentucky Gives Day on May 14th raised a collective $383,155 on Tuesday in their 7th annual 24-hour online giving campaign. This brought the overall total raised by Ky Gives Day to more than $2 million in the last 7 years.

Near the top of the list of organizations was one right here in the mountains. The Hindman Settlement School came in second for most money raised with a grand total of $19,265.00 being donated in the 24 hour period.

Saint James Catholic School in Louisville raised the most, with more than $33,000 being donated.


May 14th marks the seventh annual Kentucky Gives Day. Kentuckians both near and far are urged to support causes that are important to them through the KY Gives website, which is open until 11:59PM Tuesday.

Organizers of the online giving campaign say it has raised over $1.6 Million for charities all across Kentucky through the last six Ky Gives Day events. 174 nonprofit organizations representing a variety of causes are participating in the 24-hour event this year.

There are even prizes given to those who donate.
